The Grout 30

Description

Named after the signature piles of granite waste created by the quarrying process, the Grout 30 starts and finishes at the Barre Town Recreation Facilities behind the Barre Town Middle and Elementary School. Your route will take you out the Barre Town bike path and up Graniteville Road toward Tower Hill, where your gravel challenges begin.

The Grout 30 features its own short sector of Class IV which  takes you down into the town of Washington, where you will turn and climb back up along scenic farmland in gravel paradise.

You’ll enjoy beautiful vistas from atop Millstone Hill and will then explore some of the Millstone Trails network through the old granite quarry sites before rejoining the party at your starting point.

Note that there is only one aid station late on this route, so be prepared to self-support.
